IPOD Remote Control? WHY?

I received an advertisement for an IPOD remote control and I wondered why I would need such a gadget. Admittedly, I love the technology, but WHY?

Isn't an IPOD a handheld device? Isn't it already within my fingertip reach as I am playing it? Why in the world would I need a separate device to control it? I know some people use their IPODs to dock and play the music through speakers and perhaps this is the reason.

Another thing that I always wonder about, is a car radio remote control. I see someone with a small Japanese car, with the windows shaking from the speaker vibrations and using a remote control to adjust the radio or stereo. Why? Can you not reach the controls from anywhere in that car?

I think we are becoming too lazy, myself included. I worked at a company that had doors equipped to accommodate the handicapped. If you simply pushed the big blue handicapped button, the door would automatically open for you and you would not have to use the door handle and use your own ability to open the door. This was very helpful if your hands were full, but time and time again, I would see people use that button and wait for the magic door to open.

McCain, like a fish in the sun too long, begins to stink

On KFYI-AM radio Barry Young's show, Senator John McCain compares Obama’s socialized medicine bill in congress to a fish that’s has been lying in the sun too long and begins to stink. Actually, I agree with Senator McCain, it does stink.

Respectfully Senator, you too have been in the sun too long and have begun to stink. You stink Senator and need to be replaced. You with your phony conservative hat on. You can't fool all of us although you get an "E" for effort.

Michael Vick to return to the NFL

Michael Vick is out of prison and has the OK to play again in the NFL. Is this just a greedy play by the NFL to get a star back? Should this man that committed such bad deeds against dogs, be allowed to "play" again? I think so. I think he paid his debt to society and he did it as a man. It takes a big man to admit what you have done and apologize for it.

Isn't the Christian way to forgive? We always say we are a Christian nation, so let's show it. Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy said on Tuesday he would mentor Michael Vick as a friend and was pleased that conditions were set by the NFL commissioner on a reinstatement of the quarterback. See story here: http://www.reuters.com/article/sportsNews/idUSTRE56S03520090729

Fed Agencies Told Not to Party in Vegas, Orlando

No More Taxpayer Paid Junkets to fancy places like the Arizona Biltmore for US Government employees. Federal Agencies were told not to party (I mean, have meetings) in Orlando or Las Vegas.
It's ok to waste thousands of dollars in Wichita or Des Moines or Osh Kosh, b'Gosh, but not in a FUN city like Orlando or Vegas.

Las Vegas citizens...I know things are bad with the economy in Vegas right now. The president told American's to stay away and now his Administration is wanting to keep hard working civil servants outta there too. Isn't your Senator Harry Reid, running for election? Seems like the Leader of the Senate can't even control his own party to stop Federal spending in your town.

Arizona Toll Roads

A bill signed into law by Gov. Jan Brewer could set the stage for construction of toll highways. The bill signed Monday sets ground rules for the AZ Department of Transportation to enter into "public-private partnerships" for construction, financing, operation and maintenance of transportation projects. The bill also authorizes the department to issue bonds for the projects.

Toll roads in Arizona would be better owned and managed by competitive business under toll franchises, rather then by government (Medicare, Social Security, AZ AHCCCS)

Privatization could be a win-win proposition, relieving taxpayers of state debt while allowing entrepreneurial management to deliver a better service to motorists.
While state and federal transportation funding are the long-standing sources for money, those sources aren't making ends meet anymore.

"I would be willing to guess within five years there will be no more federal gas-tax money to build roads, only maintain them," said Stephen Hogan, executive director of Northwest Parkway Public Highway Authority. The Northwest Parkway is a 10-mile toll road near Denver, opened in 2003. The project was entirely funded by a private company, and was completed in five years.

"No one wants to pay a toll, but whether it's a toll or a tax, everybody's paying," he said. "If you do it through an entity that's focused on building a toll road, you'll get it done quicker," Hogan said.
Drive in metro Phoenix during morning or afternoon rush hour, and you know the situation: highways that look like parking lots. When it comes to roads, drivers need a choice to get them out of congestion and gridlock.

Pay as You Go
Our highways have traditionally been funded with gas taxes. Since state and federal gas taxes no longer generate enough money to build and maintain the current system to appropriate capacity levels, tolls are another option that have the advantage of charging only those who use the roads.

More Roads, More Choices, More Time
Our population continues to grow, and so does the demand for new and better roads. Tolls can supplement highway funds in the fight against congestion; with cash upfront, miles of toll roads can be finished faster than highways funded simply by gas taxes. Tolling also provides motorists more routes and more time-saving choices.

A Choice of Routes
Drivers who prefer not to pay a toll will always have a non-tolled alternative.

Sooner is Better than Later
Toll roads and toll lanes give drivers a much-needed option to get where they want to go. With tolling, we can begin to solve our traffic problems now, without motorists having to pay higher gas taxes.

Robert McNamara & Michael Jackson

Former Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara who is considered the architect of America's involvement in the Viet Nam war, died early this morning at age 93.

McNamara published a book in 1995 critical of our involvement in Vietnam.

The book was titled In Retrospect: The Tragedy and Lessons of Vietnam and published by Times Books.

McNamara placed much of the blame for the mistakes of Vietnam squarely on himself and others in government at the time, including President Johnson.

At least he admitted his mistakes.

Robert McNamara was responsible for the deaths of many of my high school classmates and thousands of other young American and South Vietnamese teenagers. Don't get me wrong, I was against the Communism that was being forced upon South Viet-Nam by the North. I enlisted in the US Marines and was not allowed to serve, because of physical health issues.

Another death recently was the death of Michael Jackson. Unquestionably one of the best singers ever.

Let's compare: Robert McNamara apologized for what he did wrong, Did Michael? As they are approach the pearly gates, I'd love to hear that conversation.

AZ State Senate Oks Bill for Possible Toll Roads

The Arizona Senate cleared the way today for the AZ DOT to look into building new highways that would possibly be toll roads.

Now I am generally a small government guy and want the government out of our pockets, and I hate paying taxes, but this makes sense to me. More roads quicker to meet our ever increasing traffic and the people that use them paying for them.

What are your thoughts?

Did Janet Napolitano Really leave AZ?

Gov Brewer says she will sue lawmakers after they refused to deliver budget bills by 5pm, Monday. She will no longer push tax increase in compromise. She is acting more like Janet every day.
Governor, work with the AZ Senate and House leaders to get a budget, with no additional taxes.

BRUCE JACOBS GONE AT KFYI AM

So Bruce Jacobs is gone from KFYI 550 AM, Phoenix. My first thought was great, he's an ass.

On further thought, I wondered if the liberal, pro-illegals finally got their way and quieted another conservative voice. Bruce's politics were right on, in my book. However, he made my blood pressure go up, because everything seemed so negative. I didn't like all of the name calling either. Many times, I had to turn my radio to smooth jazz and once even went to KTAR.

I do not like the politics of Janet Napolitano and never have, but sometimes Bruce went too far in his personal attacks. Crappy Nappy indeed.

And the relentless attacks on the AZ Republic. Believe me, they didn't need Bruce's help, they are committing suicide every day. They will be gone by their own actions and that will be a good thing.

I remember when Bruce was so high and mighty and helped push Bob Mohan to the curb and then later Heidi and Heywood. Paybacks are just a bitch, aren't they Bruce?

Good bye Bruce. You will be missed, BUT NOT BY ME. I still have Barry Young, JD Hayworth and now Mike Broomhead. At least until Obama finishes getting the Fairness Doctrine passed....

AZ GOVERNOR BREWER CONCERNED LAWMAKERS' BUDGET COULD JEOPARDIZE STIMULUS MONEY

Governor Brewer: That is a good thing. We don't need the Federal Stimulus money.

We just need to balance our budget and we do that by increasing revenue or by reducing expenses.

Your "temporary" one cent sales tax increase is not a good idea, because these things seldom stay temporary. You know that and Arizona citizens know it.

No new taxes Governor. No new taxes.

Cut the spending and balance that budget. One simple way would be to eliminate the programs that support the illegal aliens.

Mighty soon, you will be Ex-Governor Brewer if you don't start listening to your constituents.

Note to Arizona Governor Brewer

Dear Governor Brewer,

Arizona is in a crisis, revenue wise. We can't count on our Socialist, Liberal President, Mr Obama to bail us out with stimulus handouts, nor should we. While I appreciate your talk so far, it is now time for action. We need to balance the Arizona state budget. We don't want additional taxes. Period. No new Taxes.

I realize you took over a terrible mess that was left by Janet Napolitano, but cut the spending and cut it so that our budget is balanced. You are our only hope. We have a very serious situation with commerce in the USA and while the President is ruining the US Automobile, Banking and Newspaper Industries instead of being forceful with the North Koreans, you are molding the destiny for Arizona citizens today and for the next two generations.

MEMO TO PRESIDENT OBAMA, RE: SUPREME COURT

Mr President:

Please nominate Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to the United States Supreme Court opening that is being created by the retirement of David Souter.

She would have to resign as Homeland Security Secretary first, of course.

There would be such a turmoil created by the public, that she never will get confirmed to the Supreme Court even by the liberal, socialist Democrats that are currently in power.

You can then use that rejection to get the person you really want for the Supreme Court and get rid of Napolitano in the process without even firing her.

Sir, you could win the battle without even firing a shot. Talk about a win-win situation.

Only in America

As I watch My new President, being sworn in today and the celebration that followed, I thank God that I live in America. The United States of America has such an orderly process of changing Presidents. There is no chaos, no disorder, no rioting in the streets.

Hear me well, I did not support President Obama, nor his socialist agenda. But he is my President now and I will support him. I will dissent when I need to and that will be often.

Our founding Father's need to be thanked for the way they set up our government. Thank God for our constitution and God Bless America.
