Common English Grammar Mistakes


a tough row to hoe...this means a difficult situation to deal with.

A hoe is a garden implement or tool pictured here that is used to remove weeds and is sometimes used for killing snakes.

Row is referring to a row in a garden or field that you need to "hoe" to get the weeds out of.

Many people say "it's going to be a tough road to hoe."
